The Customer
A subsidiary of 18 Billion Dollar US Conglomerate, this company has sales offices in all the continents. It's manufacturing unit is in China and has vendors located all over Asia. It's customer list includes many of the world's top apparel and sporting goods brands like Nike, Abercombie, DKNY, GAP, Umbro, Old Navy, Polo, etc.
The Challenge
The customer receives at it's HongKong office, thousands of sample requests from sales staff located all over the world. Each sample is to be made in several colour variants and applied on different types of fabrics and tested for durability, fading resistance, etc. Once sampling is done, pricing is to be done by the developers based on feedback from manufacturers. Taking into account all these transactions, there are atleast 50 emails handled per sample request. This poses a nightmare for the development staff leading to missed deadlines, lost requests, wrong specs and pricing, etc.
